How to Accept Online Payments On SellShop When Stripe Isn’t Available

Modified on Thu, 31 Jul at 3:01 PM

Sell The Trend’s SellShop platform currently supports the following payment gateways:

  • ✅ Stripe

  • ✅ PayPal

  • ✅ Verifone (formerly 2Checkout)

While Stripe is one of the most popular online payment processors globally, it’s not yet supported in many countries. If you’re launching your SellShop store from a region where Stripe is unavailable, here’s how to accept payments using other supported gateways — or unlock access to Stripe through verified workarounds.

Step 1: Check if Stripe Supports Your Country

Stripe regularly expands its global footprint, so first, confirm whether it’s available in your country: Stripe Global Support Map

If your country is not listed, continue to the options below.

Step 2: Use PayPal to Accept Payments

PayPal is available in many more countries than Stripe and is fully supported by SellShop.

How to Set It Up:

  1. In your SellShop dashboard, go to:

Settings → Payment Gateways → PayPal (Connect)
  1. Connect your existing PayPal account or Create one during setup.

  2. Link your preferred bank for withdraw.

Tip: If you’re in a country like Egypt, Bangladesh, or Pakistan, you can withdraw PayPal funds to a Payoneer account or eligible Visa card.

Step 3: Use Verifone (2Checkout) as a Global Stripe Alternative

Verifone (previously 2Checkout) is a global payment gateway that supports merchants in 200+ countries — including regions where Stripe and PayPal may have limited withdrawal options.

Key Benefits:

  • Accept credit/debit cards, PayPal, and more

  • No local entity or U.S. LLC required

  • Supports both digital and physical goods

How to Set It Up:

  1. Sign up at Verifone for Online Sellers

  2. Complete their merchant onboarding and KYC

  3. In your SellShop dashboard, go to:

Settings → Payment Gateways → Verifone/2Checkout (Connect)
  1. Enter your API credentials to connect

Step 4: Want to Use Stripe? Consider a U.S. LLC

If you still want to use Stripe, you can do so by registering a U.S. business entity.

What You’ll Need:

  • A U.S. LLC (Delaware and Wyoming are common)

  • A U.S. EIN (Tax ID from the IRS)

  • A U.S. virtual bank account (via Mercury, Relay, or Wise)

  • A virtual U.S. address and email

Tip: If you’re looking to unlock Stripe by setting up a U.S. LLC, several services can help you do it quickly for a fee. Platforms like doola, Firstbase, StartGlobal, and Stripe Atlas offer full LLC formation packages—including EIN, U.S. address, and bank account setup—making it easy for international sellers to get started.

Once you have these, you can:

  • Connect that Stripe account to your SellShop

Settings → Payment Gateways → Stripe (Connect)

⚠️ Important: You do not need to live in the U.S. to open an LLC or use Stripe — many entrepreneurs around the world already do this.
