To comply with customs regulations, it is essential to ensure that all orders destined for Brazil include the necessary customs clearance information in the Customer Detail section as outlined below. Failure to do so will result in orders being unable to proceed to your suppliers.

How to meet special custom clearance requirements

For Shopify:

When it comes to orders headed to Brazil, there's a specific company Information field available on the Shopify checkout page. In this field, your customers can input customs clearance details, and Sell The Trend will handle the automatic synchronization for you.

For Woocommerce:

For orders to Brazil, there is an optional field named "Company name" on the WooCommerce checkout page where your customers can fill in the customs clearance information. Sell The Trend will help you synchronize that automatically.

Starting in 2024, the Brazilian Government is making the CPF (Cadastro de Pessoas Físicas) the sole general identification number in the country. This CPF will be required for various services, including the taxation of international parcels. For dropshippers who sell products to Brazil, it is crucial that customers provide accurate CPF numbers to avoid the risk of failed deliveries.

The good news is that the government has made the CPF verification API available to major e-commerce platforms, including AliExpress. In the near future, AliExpress is likely to release an update regarding this mandate. Furthermore, starting from December, Sell The Trend will also benefit from an official integration with AliExpress, allowing for automatic CPF verification results to be directly accessible to our users.

It's important to be aware that the API could have some limitations in terms of capacity. This could potentially affect your ordering process both on Sell The Trend and AliExpress. Let's explore how you can effectively handle orders bound for Brazil and optimize your store in light of these potential limitations.

Why Does This Matter to Dropshippers

Since the government's CPF API is only accessible on specific platforms such as AliExpress, it becomes essential for your store's customers to furnish accurate CPF information. When you initiate an order on AliExpress, it's imperative to verify the CPF provided. If the CPF number doesn't align correctly, the order won't progress.

In these instances, you'll be required to invest additional time and effort into reaching out to the customer to obtain the correct CPF details and then reorder on AliExpress. Therefore, it becomes crucial to optimize your storefront to ensure a seamless CPF verification process.

Tips to Navigate the Changes

Considering the limitations placed on individual merchants, it is highly advisable to encourage your customers to double-check and ensure that the CPF information they provide aligns accurately with the recipient's details before proceeding with an order. Taking this proactive step can help prevent potential delays in shipment or order failures.

To optimize your store's checkout process, follow these steps:

1. Incorporate a CPF information input box into your store's checkout process (following the provided guidance).

2. Create a confirmation pop-up for customers to review and confirm the accuracy of their CPF before finalizing the checkout process.

Here are some tips to address ordering issues:

1. Anticipate slightly slower order processing times due to the mandatory CPF verification, which may add an additional 5 seconds or more per order.

2. If you encounter orders that are taking longer than usual, please promptly report them to Sell The Trend customer support for immediate assistance. Keep in mind that the integration of the new API may cause intermittent interruptions.

We understand the significance of these changes to your dropshipping experience, and we are actively working to streamline the verification process while offering professional support. Our goal is to ensure a smoother experience for both you and your customers despite the enforced regulations.
